Girls

* Muleshoe built a 21-point lead in the third quarter and the Lady Mules cruised past Amarillo Highland Park 46-32 on Monday at Muleshoe.

Muleshoe (5-11) extended a 13-point halftime lead to 34-13 by scoring on its first four possessions of the third quarter. Junior guard Yvonne Gardea led Muleshoe with 13 points, while senior guard Sarah Johnson had a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.

Janna Swann had three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points for the Lady Hornets (10-7), who edged Muleshoe in overtime at Amarillo on Nov. 14.

* Junior Reavis Best scored 19 points and Elida broke out to a 19-4 lead after one quarter in a 61-28 victory over Clovis Christian at the CCS gym.

No one else reached double figures for the Lady Tigers (8-2), but nine players scored for Elida in the game. Senior guards Jocelyn Swann (13) and Julia Roberts (12) accounted for all but three of the points for the Lady Eagles (2-8), who had won each of their previous two games by one point.

Boys

* At CCS, Elida ran off to a 25-6 lead after one quarter and the Tigers cruised to a 68-34 victory over Clovis Christian.

Senior forward Kody Paiz poured in 24 points for the Tigers (4-4). Junior forward Orrie Spinks (11) and junior guard Alex Varela (10) also reached double figures.

Senior Dylan Otero and junior Mike Root tallied eight points apiece for the Eagles (1-11).

* Muleshoe (7-6) built a 26-point halftime lead and the Mules coasted to an 80-51 win over Highland Park.

Cooper Washington led three Mules in double figures with 19 points, while Highland Park’s Joseph Williams took game honors with 22.
