Boys

* Junior guard Tyson Turnbow scored 26 points and junior post Cooper Washington added 16 Tuesday night to help Muleshoe turn back Farwell 63-46 at Farwell.

The Mules (6-5) stretched a four-point lead at the quarter to 10 at halftiime and maintained a comfortable margin the rest of the way. Turnbow had two of the Mules’ four 3-point field goals.

Senior center Octavio Chavez was the lone player in double figures for the Steers (7-4), finishing with 12 points.

* At Hale Center, the host Owls held off a second-half rally by Bovina for a 54-49 triumph over the Mustangs.

Bedryle Sims scored 16 points for the Owls, while Raymond Baca added 15 and Nathan Shaver finished with 12.

The Mustangs (5-7) were led by 17 points from junior Dorian Vela.

Girls

* The Farwell Lady Blue bounced back from a one-point loss to Texico on Saturday in the finals of the Farwell Invitational to hand Muleshoe a 34-29 setback.

Senior guard Tiffani Jones scored 17 points for Farwell (11-2), including a trio of 3-pointers. Farwell outscored the Lady Mules 21-11 over the middle two quarters, but had to hold off a late comback bid by Muleshoe.

Yvonne Gardea scored 13 points to lead Muleshoe (4-10).

n Bovina improved to 4-6 for the season with a 54-42 victory over host Hale Center.

Junior Lynda Rodriguez poured in 16 points and senior Yoselin Rueda added 14 for the Fillies, who led 19-15 at the quarter and extended the lead gradually the rest of the way.

Hale Center’s top scorers were Chelsie Herrera with 11 points and Jocelyn Cargill with 10.
