SANTA ROSA — Melrose topped East selections with six on the New Mexico 8-man all-star teams, announced Friday by the New Mexico 8-Man Coaches Association.

Mountainair had six selections on the West squad.

The game will be played 3 p.m on June 12 in Ruidoso.

The all-star teams are limited to seniors, and are picked through a combination of coach rankings in each district and an association board review process.

Buffaloes selected include Clint Barnard, Sammy Lawrence, Hayden Huber, Mitchum Rush, Colby Sneller and Kole Tatum.

Floyd’s Chet Chenault and Cody Wilhoit were also chosen to the East squad.

The East All-Star team will be coached by Mick Reeves of Valley Christian, while Don Cole of Reserve will lead the West All-Stars.

Each district ranks seniors in order of preference.
