LOVINGTON — Clovis High’s boys put all five of their scores within three shots of each other and finished in a tie for third with host Lovington in Thursday’s Murphy/Black Invitational, a makeup of an earlier rainout.
Hobbs took the title in the seven-team competition at 313, followed by Roswell High at 318 and Clovis and Lovington at 320. Roswell Goddard won the girls team title at 362, with Hobbs second at 376 and Clovis third at 388.
Sophomore Kyle Wornell led the Clovis boys with a round of 40-39 — 79, while Corbin Best and Zach Griego each came in at 80, Kyler Brewer-Hill finished at 81 and Ethan Peterson posted an 82.
The Lady Wildcats, meantime, bunched their four scores within four shots of each other, led by Sarah Fulmer’s 95. Nicki Clayton shot 96, Kolby Rains 98 and Michaela Hulder 99.
