Portales sophomore Kelly Hook rounds third base en route to scoring a run during the first inning of Tuesday’s second game game against Loving.

Portales got a 6-for-7 night from pitcher Amanda Marquez, and the Lady Rams earned a doubleheader split against Loving Tuesday night at the Lady Ram softball complex.

Leftfielder Gabby Garcia went 4-5 in the doubleheader, which saw Loving claim a 14-5 win in the opener and Portales get a 12-5 victory in the nightcap.

The Lady Rams (4-3) have won four of their last five games since starting the season 0-2.

The Class 2A Falcons never trailed in the opener, and scored in the last five innings. DeAndrea Carrillo went 4-for-4 in the doubleheader to lead Loving (5-3).

In the nightcap, Portales did all the damage it needed with seven runs in the fifth.

Portales is off until Tuesday, when it travels to Jal for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
