The Portales Rams got a road victory to start the baseball season, beating Goddard 6-5 on Tuesday.

The Rams got two-RBI days from both Eric Aguilar and Martin Mendoza.

“We put together some runs,” Portales coach Arturo Ontiveros said. “They walked quite a few, and they hit us (by pitch) a lot.”

Portales trailed 3-2 after three innings, but scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Mendoza threw two scoreless innings in relief of Brandon Adkins.

Aguilar went 2-for-2, while Mendoza was 2-for-4.

The Rams face Bloomfield in an 11 a.m. Saturday doubleheader on the campus of Sandia Prep.
