ALBUQUERQUE — The Bosque Bobcats proved to be a little to much for the Clovis High girls soccer team Tuesday.

Bosque poured in seven goals in the first half and cruised to a 9-1 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

CHS coach Shane Leatherwood said he benched two seniors for the first half after they were late for the bus.

The Lady Cats obviously struggled, but Leatherwood said they bounced back with a solid second half.

“We came out the second half and tried to play a little soccer,” he said. “We lost the second half 2-1, but we played a heck of a lot better.”

Cynthia Madrid scored the lone goal for the Lady Cats (4-4) on a penalty kick early in the second half.

“I’m just proud of how (we) competed in  the second half,” Leatherwood said. “I wish I could forget about the first half.”

Samantha Sheppard converted a hat trick for Bosque, while Ali Fidel and Kenzin King added two goals. Mariah Weber and Danielle Rivera scored one apiece.

The Lady Cats are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Santa Fe Prep.
