The New Mexico Activities Association has announced seedings for Class 1A and 2A games in this week’s state tournament.

There are 11 Curry and Roosevelt County teams going to the tournament in Classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 5A.

Girls

The Portales Lady Rams are the No. 2 seed in Class 3A, while the Texico Lady Wolverines are the No. 2 seed in Class 2A. They both open at 8 a.m., with Portales facing No. 10 Santa Fe Indian School at The Pit, and Texico facing Bosque School at the Santa Ana Star Center outside of Rio Rancho.

The Elida Lady Tigers also have a No. 2 seed. They face another local team, seventh-seeded Grady, Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. at Rio Rancho High School.

In an earlier game at RRHS, Clovis Christian, the No. 8 seed in 5A, plays top-seeded Cliff in a 3:15 p.m. contest.

Semifinals for Classes 1A and 2A will be at the Santa Ana Star Center, while Class 3A semifinals remain at The Pit.

Boys

The Clovis Wildcats are the top seed in Class 5A. They play eighth-seeded Cibola in a 1:15 p.m. Wednesday contest at The Pit.

In another 1:15 p.m. Wednesday game, the fifth-seeded Portales Rams continue their Class 3A bid against fourth-seeded West Las Vegas.

Texico, the No. 2 seed in Class 2A, opens Wednesday against Monte Del Sol in an 8 a.m. game at the Santa Ana Star Center. Texico’s remaining games would both be at The Pit (11:30 a.m. Friday semifinals, 8:30 a.m. Saturday championship).

Three local teams are in the Class 1A bracket, which starts Wednesday at Rio Rancho High School. Third-seeded Dora faces No. 6 Animas at 5 p.m., No. 4 Elida faces No. 5 Gateway Christian at 6:45 p.m. and No. 8 Clovis Christian faces top-seeded Cliff at 8:30 p.m.
