Impact: The Lions got the jump in the District 2-2A opener for both teams.
Records: Santa Rosa 7-1 (1-0), Texico 6-2 (0-1).
Difference-makers: Senior Jesus Roybal scored on two long runs to stake the Lions to a 12-0 halftime lead. … Sophomore Joaquin Bachicha returned an interception 40 yards for a TD in the third quarter. … Texico’s only score came on a 63-yard run by Mario Posada in the third period.
Of note: Texico was guilty of five turnovers — four fumbles and an interception. … The Wolverines played without sophomore RB-DB Edgardo Meza due to a deep thigh bruise. … Santa Rosa is ranked third and Texico fourth in Class 2A. The only losses for both teams coming into the game came at the hands of top-ranked Dexter.

Impact: The Mules outgained Dimmitt 402-152 and continued to roll along undefeated in Texas District 2-2A action.

Lucky seven: Senior quarterback Garrett Riley threw for 280 yards and seven touchdowns for the Mules. He hit six different receivers for scores.
Pickin’ and grinnin’: Muleshoe’s defense pressured Bobcats QB Kaden Griffitt all night, intercepting four passes and forcing him to scramble more of the night. He finished with 12 carries for a net of 1 yard.
SPRINGLAKE-EARTH 6, FARWELL 0
Impact: The Wolverines earned their first District 4-1A win, scoring in overtime. The teams were held to a combined 325 yards of total offense and combined for 13 turnovers — seven for Springlake-Earth, six for Farwell.
Records: Springlake-Earth 2-5 (1-1), Farwell 1-6 (1-1).
Difference-makers: Sprinlake-Earth’s Jorge Muniz went over from a yard out in OT for the game’s only points. … Roper Ledbetter carried 20 times for 99 yards for the Steers.
LOGAN 52, CLOVIS CHRISTIAN 6
Impact: The host Longhorns opened 8-man District 4 play with a comfortable win. Logan led 24-6 at halftime.
Records: Clovis Christian 0-7 (0-1), Logan 5-2 (1-0).
