Andre DeBord, No. 44, tackles Jakeus Martinez, No. 12, at Friday’s Purple and Gold scrimmage
About 50 fans turned out Friday afternoon for the Rattlers annual Purple and Gold scrimmage.
For many of the Rattlers this scrimmage is a long running tradition but for some it was new and exciting first.
“This is a great new experience for me,” said sophomore Cedar Bomar of San Jon, who played 6-man football last year in San Jon.
Even though there was no score kept, the crowd cheered as if the clock were running.
“We all have worked hard and it seems it is harder than we have worked in the past four years,” said Andrez Apodaca.
Coach Dub Smith said,
“When we play Taos next Friday, we will know who our starters and backups will be on varsity and junior varsity. We still have work to do and will continue to work and get better right up to the state championship.”
The Rattlers will host the 4A Taos Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
