Eastbound Interstate 40 has been reopened east of San Jon according to New Mexico State Police dispatech.

Tucumcari Fire Chief Mike Cherry said the fire started near mile marker 366 on the south side of the highway. He said four fire crews were called out to the scene.

Attempts to reach Fire Marshal Donald Adams for information on the size and cause of the fire have been unsuccessful. We will provide more information as it becomes available
