Tucumcari Lions Club President Sam Shami was honored with the President's Pin by Lions International President W.R. Bryan of Ohio.

Mayor Kenneth Schilentz appointed Charles Olsen as a member of the Tucumcari Planing and Zoning Board.

Randy Cooper, an Tucumcari Junior High eighth grader, received a first-place blue ribbon for his exhibit at the New Mexico State Science Fair. Cooper was the only student at the junior high to ever receive such a high honor.

Jack Bollinger was appointed as first vice president at the New Mexico Spring Elks Convention held in Ruidoso. Paul Almond was appointed to the membership committee for the state association.
