Mesalands Community College’s rodeo team competed at the New Mexico State University rodeo competition in Las Cruces on Oct. 29-30. Both the men's and women's teams finished in fourth place.

 

K.C. Peterson of Animas took home second place in bareback riding, and teammate J2 Bridges of Hazelton, Idaho followed behind and took third place in bareback riding at last weekend’s competition.

 

Shelby Rita of Sunset Beach, Hawaii represented the women’s team well, placing third in barrel racing.

 

“Our teams had a tough time at the rodeo competition at New Mexico State,” C.J. Aragon, Mesalands intercollegiate rodeo coach said. “However, we will work hard the next few months and come back much stronger next semester.”

The next rodeo competition for the Mesalands Community College rodeo team will be at Cochise College in Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., March 4-5.
