THS student talent show set for Tuesday
The Tucumcari High School Student Council is presenting a talent show, the THS Golden Review.
The show will be at 7 p.m. onTuesday at the Tucumcari High School Auditorium, 1100 S. Seventh St. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.
Public hearing on regional water issues
is Wednesday
A meeting to gather information from citizens on water issues to update the New Mexico State Water Plan will be at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Tucumcari Convention Center.
New Mexico state statutes say the plan is to be updated every five years.
Input from citizens will be used to update the State Water Plan that was completed in 2003, according to a press release from the Interstate Stream Commission, which is conducting the meeting.
Issues expected to be covered are population growth, increased demand, drought contingency measures, climate variability, strategies for conservation, and other matters.
City’s clean-up program to offer free dumping
The city of Tucumcari will be offering two free days of dumping at the landfill in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup program.
The city commission gave the program its blessings when Cathy Estrada, the city’s code enforcement official, who coordinates the cleanup program, requested the days last week.
The free days will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 8-9. Persons must bring their city water bill and driver’s license. No batteries, paint or other hazardous waste allowed
Quay County Tourism Council to meet May 13
The Quay County Tourism Council will meet at 2 p.m. May 13 at the Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce office.
The meeting will focus on things you can be promoting to tourists who stop by your business.
