Local law enforcement officers search vacant houses between south College and Dawson Street for a wanted suspect. The Tucumcari Police Department had received a tip that the suspect was in the area.

Several law enfocement agencies joined forces Friday in Tucumcari to search for a suspect who is wanted for a violent crime, said Tucumcari Police Detective Kim Crockett.

About 1:30 p.m. Friday, officers of the Tucumcari Police Department and New Mexico State Police and members of the Quay County Sheriff's Office blocked off a section of east Main Street between south College and Dawson streets to search for the subject in vacant houses .

Crockett said that the department had recieved information that the suspect was staying in that area.

Crockett would not release the name of the suspect because it is still an ongoing investigation, she said.

The suspect was not caught.
