Services: At 7 p.m. Sunday a rosary will be recited at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari. At 10 a.m. Monday a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne's. Nora Romero, 84, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2008, in Albuquerque following an extended illness. Mrs. Romero was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Curevo, New Mexico to Marcello and Beatrice Vlaverde Sr. She was a long time resident of Tucumcari. She moved to Dalhart, Texas, to raise her family and later returned to Tucumcari in 1976. She was employed by the Western Drive-In before retiring. She was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church and a member of the Christian's Mothers. Mrs. Romero was known as Mom to close friends and family and enjoyed family gatherings, music and cooking, her family said. She moved to Albuquerque in 2005. Surviving Mrs. Romero is one daughter, Max Romero of Amarillo Texas, two sons Frank Romero, also of Amarillo, and Tommy (Kathy) Romero of Albuquerque, a grandson, A.J. (Michelle) Crespin, a grandaughter, Michelle Crespin, and a great-grandson, Drew Crespin. Also surviving are two sisters Adele Garcia and Felica Sena, and a brother Marcello (Virgie) Valverde Jr. , all of Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by her parents Marcello and Beatrice Valverde and a brother Pete Valverde Sr. The family would like to thank the staff and adopted family of Paloma Blanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their loving care of Mrs. Romero. Leo Padget will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
