Penny S. Wilson

Services: 3 p.m. today at Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas. Penny S. Wilson, 50, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, in Amarillo. Mrs. Wilson was born Aug. 28, 1956 in Branson, Miss. to Ray and Lucille Salter. She married Carl Wilson on July 3, 1981 in Amarillo. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from West Texas State University and bachelor's degree in math from Texas Tech University and went on to earn her master's degree in special education from WT. She worked as a math teacher at Fannin Middle School before becoming a special education diagnostician for Friona School District, Clovis ISD, and most recently the Tucumcari ISD. Mrs. Wilson loved to paint and in her younger years. She also liked to bowl and play volleyball. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crafts of all types. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother and friend, her family said. She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in -law Eva Wilson. Surviving are her husband: Carl Wilson, a daughter: Elisabeth (Chris) Townsley and two sons Andrew M. Wilson, and Jameson T. Wilson, all of Tucumcari. Also surviving are a sister in law: Sharol (Todd) Finley and brother in law: Ben (Tara) Wilson and wife Tara, father and mother in law, B.F. and Verda Wilson, all of Amarillo. and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim Shelburne will officiate at the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 3915 S. Bell, Amarillo, Texas 79109 Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo.
