Lydia Willis of Tucumcari was honored by the Eastern New Mexico Teachers Association. Willis retired after 48 years of teaching and 43 of those years were in Quay County. ... The Tucumcari Fire Department fought a fire at the Mark Huff wrecking yard for two and a half hours. The fire was caused by a spark from an acetylene welder. A garage building and several wrecked cars were burned. The damage was estimated at $6,500.
