Quay County Commissioners certified and approved the June 5 Primary results during Friday’s special meeting.

County Clerk Ellen White read tapes taken from county voting machines. The commission considered and approved one provisional ballot.

White said the voter turnout was double that seen in the 2010 election. She said the high number of voters and low number of provisional ballots was due to the voter convenience center at the Tucumcari Convention Center. She said there were no problems at the polls and there has been a lot of positive feedback about the voter convenience center.

White expected similar turnout during the Nov. 6 general election. She said independent candidates will be able to file for the general election on June 26 from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m., at the county clerk's office.
