As each of the 140 items comes up for auction it will also be broadcast on KTNM 1400 AM radio and bidders can phone in their bids for items
Amanda Hammer, auction chair, said prospective bidders can come to the bank lobby and see the items displayed before and during the auction. In addition, many door prizes will be available to people gathered in the bank for bidding.  Participants will be able to bid in person or by phone at (575) 461-3602.

United Way’s President Leslie Osborn, officers and directors have  worked hard to make this auction again a success, and the United Way is  grateful to all merchants, businesses and friends who have contributed to the auction, Hammer said.

A list of auction items is available on page  8 of this issue of the Quay County Sun.

United Way of Quay County supports:
Oasis, EPCAA, Tucumcari Home Health, Hartley House, Helping Hands Hospice, Arts and Humanities, and Saint Vincent de Paul.

Proceeds are given to Quay County nonprofit agencies that request funds and meet the United Way’s requirements.

In addition to this year’s auction, ALCO stores participate nationwide with a Cute Baby Contest. Local ALCO store manager,

Bill Detter announced that the next contest will be  in  January 2009. All proceeds from the contest benefit the  United Way of Quay County. Last year Tucumcari’s ALCO raised the most money, more than $800, in the district in the contest. Detter said he hopes to raise over $1,000 in the upcoming contest for United Way of Quay County.
