Bridge open on N.M 402...

The New Mexico Department of Transportation District 4 has announced the State Highway 402 bridge between Nara Visa and Clayton is open to the traveling public. The bridge is between Perschbacher and Stead roads.

Bridge repairs will continue Monday through Friday during daylight hours through the month of September with weather permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during bridge maintenance operations. The department advised motorists to reduce speeds and use caution. The bridge was washed out several months ago during a heavy rainstorm.

NMDOT meeting set here...

The New Mexico Department of Transportation District 4 will host a winter coordination meeting on Sept. 19 at the Tucumcari Convention Center from 9 a.m. to noon.

The meeting is designed to discuss road closures and communication protocols, emergency closures of Interstates, U.S, and state highway routes with key players throughout northeast New Mexico, according to a DOT press release.

DOT departments from other states and city and state law enforcement agencies and officials of many other federal and state agencies have also been invited to discuss snow removal operations and how the agencies can work together and open the lines of communication during inclement weather, the release said.

Also, a National Weather Service meteorologist will conduct a presentation and explain how the NWS categorizes winter storms, ice storms, advisories, and to provide the coming winter forecast. Vendors have also been invited to highlight their products, the release said.
