BERNALILLO — The Grady boys’ first trip to the state tournament ended a game short of the state final.
Roberto Nores had three 3-pointers and 14 points as top-seeded Hondo beat 58-45 Thursday in a Class B semifinal.
Kolby Valentine led Grady (18-11) with 14 points with Adam Lunsford and Jay Faust added eight points each.
Grady cut a 13-point halftime deficit to 39-33 at the end of three quarters, but Hondo pulled away with a 21-12 fourth-quarter edge.
“They played hard,” Grady coach Jason Lee said. “This experience up here is going to help us in the future.”
The Bronchos will graduate two seniors.
