Jan. 8: Date for candidates to declare

Jan. 8 is the date for citizens to declare their candidacy for positions in four municipalities in Quay County.

Candidates must live in their districts and must have a certified copy of their voter registrations from the Quay County clerk, said Quay County Clerk Ellen White.

Candidates must declare their candidacies between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Jan. 8 at their respective municipal offices, White said.

Of the elected offices in municipalities in Quay County, the following seats are up for reelection:

• House

Mayor

Two councilors

• Logan

Two trustees

• Tucumcari

Four City Commission seats,

Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4

• San Jon

Two trustees

Elected offices are for four-year terms and officials serve at-large in House, Logan and San Jon. Elections for these positions will be March 4 in House, Logan, Tucumcari and San Jon.
