Hail and strong winds possible in Quay County

Comments 0

There is a slight risk of isolated thunderstorms later today in Tucumcari and Quay County that could produce severe hail and winds in excess of 60 mph, said meteorologist Brian Guyer of the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.

"In your area it would be sometime after 5 p.m. today," Guyer said.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon east of the Sanngre de Cristo Mountains and move into the northeast and east central plains, including Guadalupe and Quay counties, Guyer said.

There is a 10 percent chance that the thunderstorms would reach the Quay County area, Guyer said.
