Quay County renews Trigg contract

The Quay County Commission has approved a multiyear lease of the Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital to Presbyterian Healthcare Services.
The lease is effective for the next 10 years, with an option to renew for another 10 years. The lease calls for Presbyterian to pay the county $1 a year.

The partnership with Trigg has been a good relationship and the county looks forward to many more years, said Franklin McCasland, chairman of the Quay County Commission following approval of the lease on Monday.

“The County’s support secures future financial viability of Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital,” said C.J. Wiegel, chairman of the hospital board, in a press release.

“We are grateful that this renewal will extend the collaborative efforts and working relationship that has existed for the last 30 years into the next 20 years between the county and Presbyterian,”  Wiegel said.

Administrator of Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital, Hoyt Skabelund, said in the release,  “We are committed to investing and improving the health of the community.”

Trigg Hospital has been managed by not-for-profit Presbyterian since 1978.  Presbyterian manages the facility, and the hospital is owned by the county.
