Lujan set to open distirct office...
U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D) will be in Tucumcari to officially open his district here at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tucumcari District Office is at 404 W. Route 66 Blvd. Former Quay County Democratic Party president Ron Wilmot heads up the office.

Local GOP set for July 4 tea party...

The Republican Party of Quay County will be having an American tea party from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Damon Kvols Park, said Bill Menges, president. There will be free hot dogs, chips and iced tea. The event will be similar to the tax day tea party on April 15.

9 p.m., Fire on the Water, presented by Conchas Dam Volunteer Fire Department, the American Legion and donors,Conchas Lake noth side at marina, fireworks will discharged from a barge, $5. Entrance fee per vehicle. Call 868-2270 or 868-2251.

Quay County residents admitted free to MNH&S...
Residents of Mora and Quay counties receive free admission to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque during July, according to a museum press release. Proof of residency is required for admission. The Museum created this free admission policy to welcome and honor New Mexico residents from around the state for supporting the Museum and its numerous statewide educational programs. Admission to the Lockheed Martin DynaTheater and Planetarium is by the regular charge. The museum is open every day (except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and non-holiday Mondays in January and September) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4-Hers set to raise funds for 3-D shoot...
The Quay County 4-H Shooting Sports Youth are raffling a Hoyt Alpha Max Bow to raise money for prizes for a 3-D shoot they are hosting as a fundraiser. The tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. If you do not know a 4-Her, you may purchase tickets at the Quay County Extension Office at 216 E Center St. in the Terry Turner Building. The Hoyt bow is valued at around $850.
