Parade Magazine to return to Clovis News Journal

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Can’t wait for the next parade? Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune readers won’t have to wait much longer.

“Parade Magazine” returns to our newspapers starting July 5.

“Parade,” which began in 1941, will replace “USA Weekend” on Sundays.

“Typically, local news and main news are most read and then you go to ‘Parade’,” Publisher Ray Sullivan said. “We carried it earlier this decade, so we’re switching back. It’s a company-wide move although some Freedom (Communications) papers already carried it.”

The magazine features a mixture of news, entertainment and sports stories and includes popular regular features “What People Earn” and “Ask Marilyn.”

“They’ve got a lot of fun articles with interesting topics and always good writing,” Sullivan said.

Reader Comments
From the editor: Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community. Once you fill out a simple form and leave a verifiable e-mail address, you can set up your profile page. It will display all of your contributions and allow you to track issues and easily connect with others.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.

Should schools provide an additional fresh fruit and vegetable snack for elementary students during the day?
Yes. If we teach children early about healthy eating habits they are less likely to develop health problems.
No. The school's lunch program is already designed to provide a nutritious meal for our children and that is all they need.
Kids will just eat what they want.
