Severe thunderstorm warning for East Central New Mexico

A severe thunderstorm warning for East Central New Mexico has been issued by the National Weather Service.

The severe thunderstorm will be near or south Newkirk in Guadalupe County, bordering Quay County about 3:50 p.m., the NWS said.

Severe storms produce damaging winds and large hail. The NWS said move indoors and avoid windows.

The storm is moving east at 28 mph, NWS said. 

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.today for eastern New Mexico.
