United Way could move as soon as next week
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The United Way of Eastern New Mexico is moving.
The non-profit is taking up residence at Matt 25 Hope Center.
United Way Executive Director Erinn Burch said the move will happen as soon as next week.
“Mainly, our building at 215 Main St. has several offices and we haven’t found people to replace those that had left,” she said. “We could either spread out to take over the whole building or we could move.”
The building at 215 Main St. is owned by the Clovis and Curry County Chamber of Commerce, Burch said.
Chase Gentry, executive director of the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation, said the chamber is considering combining the chamber’s current building with the one at 215 Main St. and using it as storefront space for businesses in the Clovis Business Incubator.
“It was the staff’s feeling that it would be very beneficial for those businesses to have space on the ground floor,” he said.
He said the chamber is doing a cost benefit analysis before making a final decision in the upcoming months.
Matt 25 Executive Director Steve Reshetar said United Way will be moving into the first floor right off the lobby.
“We’re ecstatic. It has always been our mission to try to make this a one-stop shop for people who need help. Their move is a wonderful fit with what we’re trying to do,” Reshetar said.
Reshetar said a hub of non-profits also helps them work together.
“We’re not in competition with one another. With everyone being in one place, they see each other and talk to each other and can find ways to work together,” he said.
