Comments 0 | Recommend 0

This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Conchas Lake
Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was good this past week. Although most of the fish caught were small, anglers did well using sweet beavers, crank baits, senkos, jerk baits, poppers and worms. Walleye fishing was fair for anglers trolling crank baits and spinner/worm rigs and casting grubs and tubes in the brush. Fishing for white bass was fair using crank baits, grubs, top water lures and sassy shad. Night fishing for catfish was good using liver, shrimp, stink bait and night crawlers. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms and poppers. A few crappie were taken by anglers using minnows and jigs.

Ute Lake
Night fishing continued to be good this past week for anglers fishing for catfish, white bass, crappie and walleye. Best baits for the catfish were stink bait, liver and night crawlers. The walleye were caught by anglers using minnows, suspending jerk baits and bottom bouncer/night crawler rigs. White bass and crappie were taken by anglers using minnows, jigs, grubs and top water lures. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair for anglers fishing early and late in the day and using top water lures and jerk baits. Fishing for bluegill was fair-to-good using worms.

Will you be watching this year's summer Olympics?
Of course. And I'll be rooting hard for former Tucumcari resident Amber Campbell in the hammer throw.
Maybe, if I'm flipping the channels and see something interesting.
I'm not a sports fan.
No. But go, U.S.A.
