Rattlers to face Dexter

The team plays its homecoming game against Bosque on Saturday.

The Tucumcari Rattlers have a busy week with two home games, including Saturday's homecoming game against Bosque.

The Rattlers (4-8) start things off Thursday against the Dexter Blue Demons (10-5) at the Snake Pit.

"We need to do a better job of taking care of the ball and going up strong for the basket," said John Span, Rattlers head coach.

Span said the Rattlers have to play better than they did during the Saturday 80-46 loss to the Pecos Panthers (13-1) at the Snake Pit. He said the Rattlers turned the ball over too many times to a stout Panthers team who controlled the rebounds and scored 10 three-point shots during the game.

Span said on Friday the Rattlers will travel to Logan to take on the Longhorns (6-8).

The Longhorns last game was a 68-19 win on Friday against Des Moines.

Span said to end out the week the Rattlers homecoming will be on Saturday against the Bosque Bobcats (1-15).

The following is the game schedule:

• 7 p.m. Thursday, Dexter at Tucumcari

• 7 p.m. Friday, Tucumcari at Logan

• 6 p.m. Saturday, Bosque at Tucumcari

The Tucumcari Lady Rattlers have a full week ahead of them after a week break in games.

The Lady Rattlers (11-3) last win was on Dec. 10, a 52-28 win against the Lady Bears (5-6) at Estancia.

"Having such a long break between games can make the team's senses dull," said Gary Hittson, Lady Rattlers head coach.

The Lady Rattlers week kicks-off with a match up against the Dexter Lady Demons (7-7) at the Snake Pit.

On Friday the Lady Rattlers travel to Logan to take on the Lady Longhorns (13-2).

Saturday the Lady Rattlers wrap things up with a homecoming match against the Bosque Lady Bobcats (7-6).

"We need to come out with intensity and not look past any team," Hittson said.

The following is the schedule of games:

• 6 p.m. Thursday, Dexter at Tucumcari

• 5:30 p.m. Friday, Tucumcari at Logan

• 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Bosque at Tucumcari
