Quay all-star minors lose to Roosevelt County

The season came to an end June 28 for the Quay County All-Star minor little league team with a loss to Roosevelt County in Tucumcari.

"This is a learning experience for the kids, they played great," said Cole Wallin, QC head coach.

The QC All-Stars lost 24-7, their second loss to the Roosevelt County team in three days.

Wallin said the Roosevelt All-Stars came up with some big hits, they were able to get on base and bring in their runners. He said Roosevelt's older players came up with two home runs during Wednesday's game. Those hits were big, adding to their lead, Wallin added.

Wallin said the team will only lose a few players, the majority of the line up is young. He said he is excited to see how the team will develop as they have more time to play together.

"These kids can hold their heads up high," Walling said.

The Quay County major little league All-Star team advanced to the next round of play by beating the Clovis Americans 26-9 June 28 at Clovis.
