Two win championships at 4-H competition

Quay County 4-H members won two state championships while competing at the 2017 New Mexico State 4-H Conference at Las Cruces.

Quay County had 16 4-H members compete in contests held July 10-13.

Family Consumer Science Bowl team members Tianna Peterson, Dyson Clark, Natalie Hayes, and Isaac Arias won first place. Peterson was awarded second and Clark was fifth as high-point individuals.

Family Consumer Science Skill-a-thon team members Reagan Runyan, Tianna Peterson, Natalie Hayes, and Trestin Peterson won first place. Runyan won high point individual and a buckle and Tianna Peterson was fifth high individual.

Hayes also won a scholarship for New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences in a drawing.
