Quay County to have two contested primaries

Candidates filled today at the Quay County Clerk's Office for the June 5 primary election in Quay County including Quay County Sheriff, Magistrate Judge and District 3 Commissioner.

Quay County Clerk Ellen White closed the books at 5 p.m., and candidate drew cards for the ballot order in the two contested races.

District 3 County Commissioner Franklin McCasland will run for another term against Bryan M. Rinestine in the Republican primary. The winner faces no Democratic opposition in the November general election.

Timothy O'Quinn will run for another term as magistrate judge against Patricia Lopez and Paula Chacon. This winner also faces no Democratic opposition in November.

The county's four other signups Tuesday will be uncontested in primaries.
