Clerk's office holding voter drive

A voter registration drive is being conducted by the Quay County Clerk’s Office and will continue through May 8, the day registration books close for the primary election.

The drive is being conducted to register persons who are not currently registered and to encourage existing voters to update their voter registration with current information, said Ellen White, Quay County Clerk.

Anyone who will be 18 years of age before the Nov. 6 general election is eligible to register and vote in the June 5 primaries.

Primaries are closed in New Mexico, meaning residents must be registered with a political party to vote in that party’s primary.

Residents can update and register to vote online at portal.sos.state.nm.us. Forms are also available at the Quay County Clerk’s Office, Human Services Department, Motor Vehicle Departments and all city and iillage offices.
