Free animal spay/neuter to arrive Oct. 17

Pet over population is a problem throughout the United States and especially here in Quay County, said Robert Ciolli of Tucumcari. Every year about 1,500 animals are destroyed at the Tucumcari animal shelter, Ciolli said. Last year, 1,428 dogs and cats were destroyed, according to Tucumcari Police Department records.
