A state judge on Monday granted a motion to dismiss litigation the Village of Logan filed in an attempt to halt construction on the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System, also known as the Ute Water Project. The litigation, heard by Judge Sarah Singleton of the First Judicial Court in Santa Fe, is one of three that have been filed this year against the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority, a body comprised of municipalities in Curry and Roosevelt counties. After 10 days of 'Nancy's Truck' driving through Clovis and Portales collecting nonperishable goods, the campaign was declared a success by the organization. A local communications provider is one of three statewide that received federal money to upgrade mobile service in rural areas of New Mexico that lack 3G or 4G wireless service. Noe Torres Accused child killer and former fugitive Noe Torres is due back in Clovis Wednesday to face murder charges.
