The Mesalands Rodeo Team is sending 10 members to national finals and the women's team has captured a regional championship for the first time in the program's history. Mesalands Community College is the only area institution offering an Occupational Certificate in Basic Wind Energy Technology this summer. This short program starts May 6 and will end Aug. 16, with federal financial aid available to those who qualify. NMSU Cooperative Extension Services is offering a Diabetes Cooking School at Mesalands Community College. It is a special cooking school aimed at helping people with diabetes learn how to prepare delicious foods and manage their blood sugar levels. The school will meet for three hours each morning April 24, May 1, May 8, and May 15. The Mesalands Community College's Rodeo Team competed in their best rodeo of the spring season last weekend at the University of Arizona. The Mesalands Rodeo Team brought home both the Men's and Women's championship titles and won five individual titles. "We finally had a good rodeo," C.J. Aragon, Mesalands rodeo coach said. HPE 136: Health and Fat Loss Challenge is a 16-week educational and physical activity program to improve overall health while losing body fat. Wes Stewart will celebrate his 25th year as Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in January. Wes Stewart Stewart was born and raised in Tribune, Kan., and after high school he attended Business College for a year in Salina, Kan., before joining the Navy. Mesalands Community College is hosting an Artistic Silversmithing Open House Nov. 28 at the Farrier Complex. Mildred P. Lovato, president of Mesalands Community College, and Jerónimo Dominguez, vice provost, distance education programs and services at the University of New Mexico, recently signed an agreement to expand the partnership between both institutions in order to better serve the community. Summer Adventure Camp was held last week at Mesalands Community College. This was a week-long camp of southwest themed classes that were both educational, as well as a fun experience for all ages.
