    Area residents could be the target of a scam involving the purchase of a Green Dot prepaid cards to claim winnings from a sweepstakes or Mega Millions lottery.     A Logan man accused of beating his six-months pregnant girlfriend is facing criminal abortion charges, according to Tenth Judicial District Attorney Tim Rose. Rose said the Feb. 1 attack has also driven him to take the issue to state lawmakers and appeal for stronger laws to protect women and their unborn children.     A former Quay County Detention Center officer accused of giving the wrong medicine to inmates appealing told Quay County Grievance Board members she shouldn't be fired because others have made the same errors.     New Mexico State Police are investigating an incident involving a teenager accused of possessing a firearm at Tucumcari Middle School. On Jan. 29, a bus driver who had completed his route reported to a school secretary that a student was carrying a gun in a backpack, said Aaron McKinney, Tucumcari's school superintendent.     A Tucumcari man remains in the Quay County Detention Center charged with felony homicide by vehicle for the death of 25-year-old Silvia Chavez-Cruz. Police said they were already investigating the fatal single vehicle crash when a man who identified himself as David Carlos Guzman, walked into Tucumcari Police headquarters to request an ambulance to respond to an accident on Five Mile Park Road.
