Former State Sen. Clinton D. Harden was introduced Tuesday as Mesalands Community College's new government relations specialist. The use of the Wind Center of Excellence grant at Mesalands Community College's North American Wind Research and Training Center has increased the number of student enrollment and programs offered. Elected officials were sworn in Jan. 2 at the courthouse in the 10th Judicial District courtroom by Judge Albert J. Mitchell. The Tucumcari Fire Department is investigating two fires causing considerable damage Monday. In the morning the department was called to a fire at the Terry Turner Building. Food baskets On Dec. 22, approximately 40 Elks members met at the Tucumcari Elks Lodge and prepared and delivered 112 Christmas Food Baskets for Quay County area needy families. Fifty-six family households were recipients of the Christmas food baskets. Each household received two food baskets. Elks volunteers filled boxes with various food items. Two Tucumcari Rattlers cheerleaders started off the New Year performing in a parade in London, England. "It was a life-changing experience that I'd like to do again," said Aby Jimenez, sophomore.
