Following the initiative of the late commissioner Daniel Lopez to get the community involved, the Tucumcari City Commission has opened the District 3 commission seat to applications and nominations from residents. "We know this is something that Daniel would have wanted," said Robert Lumpkin, city commissioner. Federal officials are offering emergency loans after declaring eastern New Mexico a disaster area due to extreme drought conditions. Curry, Quay and Roosevelt counties are among 19 in New Mexico designated as a primary natural disaster areas Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. Tucumcari Rattlers wrestler Dillon Wood was named outstanding wrestler with a first place finish at Saint Michael's tournament. Woods' first place finish was in the 132-pound division a higher weight class than what he normally competes in at 126. "It gave me a chance to compete against some stronger opponents," Woods said. I don't think I am alone when I say communication is crucial, especially considering how easy communicating should be in these days of technological advancements. There are more people online, Facebooking, Twittering, YouTube-ing and God knows what other social medium. Cell phones have 4G capabilities, which as far as I know allows me to get my Sports Center updates a lot quicker. They are lighter, higher in memory capacity and if you use them for 20 minutes straight you have just enough power to post a "my battery is about to die status."... Full story
