Mesalands Community College's student government organization is holding an Easter Bunny charity event Thursday. To help usher in the holiday and give back to the community the student government arranged for the Easter Bunny to visit with the students at Tucumcari Elementary School and area children. The New Mexico State Game Commission elect recently appointed Scott Bidegain of Tucumcari as chairman. Bidegain, 33, was selected to serve as the chairman during the March 21 meeting in Albuquerque. Bidegain succeeds Jim McClintic, who died Feb. 15 after a battle with cancer. The state game commission is composed of seven members who represent the state's diverse interests in wildlife-associated recreation and conservation. The Mesalands Community College's Rodeo Team competed in their best rodeo of the spring season last weekend at the University of Arizona. The Mesalands Rodeo Team brought home both the Men's and Women's championship titles and won five individual titles. "We finally had a good rodeo," C.J. Aragon, Mesalands rodeo coach said. Tucumcari will be the site of a new business with Kodiak Fresh Produce set to open in mid-April, soon, Site Manager John Perry said Monday. Perry, who is from Logan, said their goal is to be the biggest employer in Quay County. He said that they will start with about 25 employees and plan to hire more in the future.
