    A lockdown at Tucumcari Public Schools ended at 2:45 p.m. today following local law enforcement's search for a man carrying a firearm. "The students are safe," said Dave Johnson, assistant superintendent. "We will keep them inside the buildings until school is dismissed." Johnson said there was no immediate danger to any of the children.   • Rattlers return from 2A state track and field competition with two champions

    The Tucumcari Rattlers track team earned two state championships and 13 top-ten places at the 2A state track meet May 9-10 at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. The Rattlers had a successful year , we didn't finish as strong as we thought though we had some near misses on state championships though it went as well as we expected, said Wayne Ferguson, track and field head coach.
