Noe Torres Accused child killer and former fugitive Noe Torres is due back in Clovis Wednesday to face murder charges. Roosevelt and Curry counties will keep fire restrictions in place for now even though the New Mexico State Forestry Division will lift statewide fire restrictions 8 a.m. today. The state ban being lifted includes smoking, fireworks, camp fires and open fires. Curry County's fire restriction expires the end of July. Roosevelt County's around the first of August. The city of Tucumcari Volunteer Animal Rescue will hosting the 2012 dog and cat health fair Aug. 9-11 at the Tucumcari Convention Center. The Santa Fe Humane Society's mobile spay and neuter van will be providing services to pre registered patients, said Christina Fleming, event coordinator. Continued renovations and improvements at Tucumcari Municipal Airport will help the area's economic appeal, according to city officials. Recent Federal Aviation Administration grants for $307,800 will be used to overlay the airport's 7,100-foot runway and make any additional repairs, said B.J. Molinas, city grant administrator.
