The Quay County board of commissioners on Monday unanimously approved a motion to a place a resolution on a future meeting agenda to give $10,000 to help pay for an engineering study for a proposed 2-mile road from Mine Canyon Road to U.S. 54 south of Logan. The donation would be contingent on the Village of Logan also giving $10,000 to help cover the study during a village board meeting next week. The total cost of the study would be $45,000. CLOVIS — After months of rumors, Allsup’s Convenience Stores Inc. told its employees Oct. 8 an equity firm that operates Iowa-based convenience store chain Yesway is acquiring it. Pecan production in New Mexico is forecast at a record-high 97 million pounds, a 6% increase from 2018. The forecast was included in the October 2019 Crop Production Report released by the United States Department of Agriculture-National Agricultural Statistics Service last week. Georgia’s forecast is second in the nation at 76 million pounds, followed by Texas at 47 million pounds. New Mexico produced 91.1 million pounds of pecans in 2018. Crews began Monday the reconstruction of the right line of Interstate 40’s westbound off-ramp at Tucumcari’s Mountain Road in a project that will last through mid- to late November. Crews are reconstructing the right lane off the off-ramp at U.S. 54, also known as Mountain Road. During the work, traffic will be shifted to the left side of the off-ramp.
