House schools host FFA contests for District IV

On Jan. 18, House schools hosted Junior High Leadership contests for District IV participants. Contests included the opening/closing ceremonies as well as junior high prepared speaking contest. The opening and closing ceremonies team consists of seven members who repeat the FFA opening and closing ceremonies.

The Prepared Speaking Contest requires an individual to write, memorize and recite a three- to four-minute speech on an agriculture related topic.

This year, nearly 60 contestants came to House to compete from neighboring school districts, including Fort Sumner, Melrose, Elida and Texico. Placings for contests are as follows:

The top three placings in Opening/closing ceremonies and the top five in prepared speech represented District IV at the state contest, last weekend in Albuquerque.
