Carnival rides back at county fair

After a four year-absence a carnival midway will return for the 2012 Quay County Fair, according to fair officials.

"We moved our fair up to accommodate the school system and that created a conflict of scheduling with the Sun Valley rides, midway company," said Brenda Bishop, fair board secretary.

Bishop said the schedule change placed the county fair at the same time as a larger fair that the company was already working. She said this year the company has worked its schedule to be able to operate at this year's fair.

Bishop said their will be more exhibits for people to enjoy, as well as outdoor vendors. She said those will include food vendors.

Bishop said the 4-H members will be teaching local youth make-and-take projects, like keychains, puppets and bracelets. She said those projects will be done at set times through out the fair.

Bishop said the traditional animal show events will be held including pet parade, itty bitty rodeo, goat roping and cow patty bingo. She said as always there is no charge to enter you items into the exhibit in the home arts departments. Gardening, flower show, baking, artistic food display, canning, sewing, needle work, quilting, crafts and hobbies and fine arts.
