Pastor to celebrate 25th anniversary with Temple Baptist Church

Wes Stewart will celebrate his 25th year as Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in January.

Wes Stewart

Stewart was born and raised in Tribune, Kan., and after high school he attended Business College for a year in Salina, Kan., before joining the Navy.

Stewart served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972, including two tours in Viet Nam. Following his service in the Navy, he worked a few jobs before God got his heart, saved him and called him to preach.

Stewart attended Temple Baptist Church under Pastor Joe Doyle before entering Hyles-Anderson Bible College in Hammond, Ind., in 1976.

Stewart met his first wife, Nancy, while at college. They were married in 1979 and had a son, John, in 1981. They adopted a baby boy in 1984 and named him Paul, and then had a daughter, Suzannah, in 1986.

Following graduation from college, Stewart served as an associate and youth pastor in Ypsilanti Mich., for seven years before accepting the call to be pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Tucumcari in 1988.

Stewart's parents had retired and moved to Logan where his mother still resides. He also has a sister, Sherry Osborn of Logan and a brother, Jerry Stewart of Los Lunas.

Stewart's first wife passed away in Nov., 1999, following a four year battle with cancer. He met his second wife, Donna, in 2003, and they have since been serving the Lord together while Stewart is still preaching the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to residents in Tucumcari.

Donna has two children, Wade Avinger and Tammy Waltz and four grandchildren in Wisconsin.

Stewart has a heart for people and loves the Lord and his work here in Tucumcari. He appreciates and loves his congregation and desires to reach many more people for Christ in the time he has left on this earth.

The members of Temple Baptist Church wish Stewart a Happy 25th Anniversary.
