Mesalands election set for March

The Quay County Clerk's Office will be conducting the Mesalands Community College Board of Trustees election to be held on March 5, 2013.

The filing day for candidates is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the office of the Quay County Clerk, 300 South Third Street.

Any person desiring to be a candidate for the board of trustees must file a signed "Declaration of Candidacy" in the office of the County Clerk on this date.

Any person desiring to be a must be a registered voter residing within the college district boundaries for which they are a candidate.

The Mesalands Community College trustees fall under the single member district plan, whereby the candidates will be elected by the voters of their respective district.

Board positions and lengths of terms to be elected March 5:

• Position No. 2 for a six-year term commencing April.
• Position No. 3 for the remainder of a two-year term commencing April 1.
• Position No. 4 for a six-year term commencing April 1.

Any person not currently registered to vote, may register through 5 p.m. on Feb. 5.
