Local FCCLA students will compete at nationals

Tucumcari High School and Tucumcari Middle School are sending a total of 11 students to compete at the national level in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition.

Jodi Lamm, the middle school FCCLA advisor, won the “Spirit of Advising” award and was elected to the New Mexico FCCLA Board of Directors.

From Tucumcari High School, the following students are entering national level competition:

• Kassie Lamm, whose on-line event went directly to Nationals for judging.

• Ashle Brown and Romy Diaz, who won a silver medal and second place in “Entrepreneurship, Junior Level” at the state level.

• Roxanne Awais, who won a silver medal and second place in “Recycle and Redesign, Senior Level” at state competition.

• Laura Evans, who won a gold medal and first place in “Life Event Planning, Senior Level” in state competition.

Evans has also been elected to the New Mexico State Executive Council of FCCLA.

From Tucumcari Middle School, the following students are entering national level competition:

• Sara Brown, who won a bronze medal and third place in “Career Investigation” at the state level.

• Daniel Holguin, who won a silver medal and fourth place in “Recycle and Redesign” in state competition.

• Allyssa Zukevich, who won a silver medal and fourth place in “Illustrated Talk” competition at the state level.

• Brittany Pulcini, who won a silver medal and third place in “Illustrated Talk” in state competition.

• Kami Lamm, who won a gold medal and first place in “Food” in state competition.

• Sydney Goldston and Chris Arellano, who won a gold medal and first place in “Advocacy” at the state level.

Goldston was also elected to the Connection Team of the New Mexico State Executive Council.

Other THS prize-winners at state level included:

• Michael Shelton and Mark Gutierrez, who won a silver medal and third place in “Crudités Tray, Junior Level.”

• Kassie Lamm, Roxanne Awais and Sarah Silva, who won a bronze medal and sixth place in “Chapter Banner, Senior Level.”

Other TMS prize-winners at state level included:

• Isaac Arias and Natalia Gutierrez, who won a silver medal and fifth place in “Crudités Tray.”

• Michael Diaz and Nadia-Ranae Luján, who won a silver medal and first place in “Designer's Challenge.”

• Kami Lamm, who won a gold medal and first place in “Chapter Banner.”
